White Piping Summer Dress, #NoemiMcCalls, #M8091

I had a fun opportunity for collaboration with McCall’s pattern company and Fabric.com through my sewing community of Atlanta Sewing Style.
When Nikki asked me if I am interested in participating, of course, I said “yes!!!”

It didn’t take a long time to choose this pattern because this style was my wish list to be sewn. I felt so lucky to be able to have the newest pattern in hand earlier than anyone else! And this is the fabric I chose. When I researched on Pinterest, I see most of this style of dresses were made with solid, but I wanted to create the dress that my friends would say, “That’s so you, Meg”.

The inspiration dress I found was in peach gingham and that’s how this denim color and piping dress idea was born:)
The quality of the fabric is really nice. I used a seam ripper a lot of this dress, but it took well. I do trust the quality of the fabric.
I have made Kalle shirt with their linen blend about a couple of years ago and it’s holding its shape well too.

Now let me talk about piping! I had so much fun with it. I have made pillowcases with piping, but making this dress with piping was so much more fun. I think piping foot made a big difference to create beautiful piping. I already have another dress in mind with piping. I don’t know when I will make it, but I definitely looking for more use of piping for future:)

Check on my highlights on Instagram. I added how I made this dress, including adding piping and more tricks.

Pattern Description: Misses’ fitted button front dress. A: sleeveless. B: Topstitching and patch pockets.

Sizing:  6-22 I sewed 10 at the bust, 14 skirt

Difficulty: 4 (Because I add piping, construction of dress itself isn’t hard. it just has many pieces)

Fabric Used: Kaufman 1/8″ Carolina Gingham Denim

Does it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes as it’s easy to follow

Likes: I am very happy with how piping looks.

Dislikes:  none

Pattern alterations or any design changes made: 1″ shorten bodice, +1″ skirt(If I make another one, I will lengthen it)

Would I sew it again?  might make with solid, but I already have so many dresses that I would like to sew, so I don’t think I will be making it anytime soon.

Would I recommend it to others?  Yes, definitely
